For the past 7 years, Wellness Secrets has done 5 day community health programs at the Lady Lake Seventh-day Adventist Church. Here is a transcript of an interview with Dee, a participant in our recent Lady Lake program, and the Lady Lake SDA Church.
Dee’s Thoughts About Our Florida Health Seminar
Interviewer: Dee can you tell me how you heard of “5 Days to Wellness”, and what made you decide to attend?
Dee: I found out about the program from Kae at church on the Sabbath and at my Wednesday Bible study with Pastor and the Stephens. Everyone who had been to one of the programs encouraged me to attend. I wanted to attend and knew I needed to attend, but could not afford to do so. That’s when Kay told me that she may have a sponsor to pay my way.
Interviewer: Praise God for sponsors! What were your initial thoughts about health and wellness going into the program?
Dee: I really had no expectations going into the program and just prayed that I could stay well enough to attend all five days. My thoughts were that my health was failing daily and my increased weight gain was my major problem. I was eating all the foods I shouldn’t and not eating all the foods I should.
Interviewer: Sounds like this was the program for you.
Dee: I was hoping that I could learn how to prepare the right foods, find alternative snack foods instead of candy and sweets, and ultimately, change my life style. I had to get my head right about it and feared that may be a problem for me.
Interviewer: Did 5 Days to Wellness meet, exceeded, or fall short of your expectations?
Dee: The 5 days I spent in the program was so much more than I ever expected. Not only did I learn how the food affects my body, but also how wonderful the right foods taste. Then, to learn and actually prepare the food was a big surprise and so much fun to learn.
Interviewer: Awesome! Did you set any goals for yourself during this program that you hope to work towards in your day-to-day life?
Dee: I did set goals to continue on the program and since I lost 7 pounds in those 5 days. That was enough to make me set the goals to stay on the program no matter what. I am continuing to lose weight and know this was no accident that this program came along right after I attended Lady Lake SDA Church. It was all God’s planning for me to get healthy and I won’t dare disappoint HIM.
Interviewer: Praise God! What would you say was the best part of the program?
Dee: It’s hard to pick one thing but I think it would have to be all the wonderful information I received from the classes. The demonstrations and hands on interacting with all the presenters was so interesting, and how they presented their messages. I can’t say enough about the wonderful people who cooked the meals and gave all their time to educate us. I also loved meeting all the other attendees. We became like a family and the interactions were great. Plus. I made a lot of new friends and we exchanged phone numbers and have talked to several since the classes ended.
Interviewer: Well Dee I’m happy that the program was such a blessing to you. What would you say to someone who wants to better his or her health but is not sure about attending 5 Days to Wellness?
Dee: I would tell them the same thing everyone told me. They simply must attend if they truly care about their health, or if they just want to learn more about healthy foods and how to prepare good nutrition for their family. It’s a wonderful program and I’m so thankful I was able to attend. I now know why several of the attendees were there for the third and fourth time. Refresher courses are just because they’re so much fun and so informative.
